Multiple protests in Kolkata over Jadavpur University, RG Kar incidents

Kolkata witnessed massive protest rallies organised by civil society groups and opposition parties on Sunday.
Citizen groups condemned both the recent Jadavpur University incident in which several students were injured after an attack on the state education minister's car, and the brutal rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor from RG Kar Medical College. Several protest marches, originating from different parts of the city, converged at Rabindra Sadan. Another major rally was led by BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari.
The unrest at Jadavpur University began after an attack on Education Minister Bratya Basu's car last Saturday, which left several students injured and triggered widespread protests. Students have demanded discussions with the Vice-Chancellor, escalating tensions on campus.
