11 Years of Modi Govt: A Decade of Inclusive Development and Growth
June 09, 2025
|The Statesman Kolkata
As Prime Minister Narendra Modi completes 11 years in office (2014-2025), his governance has been characterized by bold initiatives, significant structural reforms, assertive foreign policy, electoral dominance, economic rise, and a new national narrative.
Sworn in on 26 May 2014, and now in his third term since 9 June 2024, PM Modi's governance has touched nearly every sphere—economic, military, diplomatic, legal, and social, but the major challenge he faced was from the Pahalgam terror attack and its aftermath.
Operation Sindoor, which demonstrated a robust military response to Pakistan against its sponsoring terrorism on India's soil, was a significant demonstration of India's military and strategic power, executed through a combination of military and non-military means. This multi-dimensional operation effectively neutralized terrorist threats, deterred Pakistani aggression, and firmly enforced India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
The operation maintained strategic restraint while gaining international support.
It has been one month since the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor—a punitive strike on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and the parts of Kashmir which it occupies, for the terrorist attack at Pahalgam on 22 April. The action culminated in a 'pause' on 10 May, after Indian missiles destroyed Pakistani military aircraft in the air and on the ground, and furiously pounded numerous Pakistani air bases, command-and-control centers, and strategic sites, without hindrance.
The other major achievement that his government is credited with is India overtaking Japan as the world's fourth-largest economy.
