RBI Governor Opines Interest Rate Reduction to Bolster Private Consumption

RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said cutting benchmark interest rates will boost private consumption and help revive private corporate investment.
His comments came during the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting held earlier this month, where he and five other members voted for a 25 basis point repo rate cut, as noted in the minutes released by the RBI on Wednesday.
