IPL: Lucknow hold nerves to quell brave Mumbai fight

Avesh Khan held his nerves to deliver an excellent final over as Lucknow Super Giants edged past Mumbai Indians by 12 runs in a pulsating IPL 2025 clash at the Ekana Cricket Stadium here on Friday.

With Mumbai needing 22 runs off the last over, Hardik Pandya raised the visitors' hopes with a six off the first ball. However, the following five deliveries produced three dot balls and only three runs as an exciting chase by Mumbai fell short right at the death.

Chasing 204, Mumbai ran into early trouble with openers Will Jacks and Ryan Rickelton back in the pavilion by the third over.

However, Suryakumar Yadav spearheaded the Mumbai charge with a heroic half-century that almost carried them over the line.

Yadav, who emerged as the top scorer for Mumbai with 67 runs off 43 deliveries, joined forces with young batter Naman Dhir to bring the visitors' innings back on track.
