The nightmare continues for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). On Wednesday, the yellow brigade suffered their third consecutive defeat as Punjab Kings clinched a dominant four-wicket victory in a one-sided Indian Premier League (IPL) tie at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

A late-hattrick by star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and half-centuries by skipper Shreyas Iyer and opener Prabhsimran Singh powered the visitors as they jumped three rungs to the second spot on the IPL table with 13 points from 10 matches. The defeat meant that five-time IPL champions CSK continued to languish at the bottom of the table with just four points from 10 games.

Iyer played a captain's innings, leading from the front with a topscore of 72 runs off 41 deliveries before falling prey to CSK pacer Matheesha Pathirana right at the end. His 72-run stand with Prabhsimran, who scored a steady 54 off 36, laid the foundation for Punjab's successful chase of the 191-run target.

For CSK, pacers Khaleel Ahmed and Pathirana bagged two wickets each while Ravindra Jadeja and fellow spinner Noor Ahmad scalped one apiece.
