Come 25 and 26 October, the cine-goers of northeast India will be ecstatic during 9th Chalachitram National Film Festival (CNFF-2025), organised at Jyoti Chitraban premise in Guwahati, where nearly 40 documentary and short features will be screened for the serious filmmakers, cine workers, appreciators and general audience.

Organised by Chalachitram, a subsidiary of Vishwa Samvad Kendra-Assam, the annual festival aims to nurture nationalism through film-screening and other activities as well as pay homage to thousands of years of Indian civilization, culture and heritage. The CNFF-25 will showcase film-works, which were produced between 1 November 2024 and 15 September 2025 with the duration of maximum 25 minutes, in both competition and only screening category.

The distinctive film-fest, under the mentorship of Bharatiya Chitra Sadhna, was initially launched as Guwahati Film Festival in 2017 and it was renamed in 2019 with the central theme of 'Our Heritage Our Pride' which encompasses various issues like Indian heritage, indigenous society, heroes of the freedom movement, epics & mythology, national integration & solidarity, arts & artisans, manuscripts & paintings, tradition and family values, cultural nationalism, women empowerment, environment, land & people, tourism, arts, handicrafts & textiles, wood carving, music and musicians, indigenous festivals, traditional sports, monuments & heritage sites, social reformers & pioneers, tea and oil industries, etc.
