|The Star
FINANCE Minister Enoch Godongwana has allocated an additional R1.76 billion to provinces for the early retirement and voluntary exit programmes, for which the government has already spent R3.7bn.
Godongwana has announced that in terms of the Division of Revenue Act he will be increasing allocations to provinces for the programmes for the current 2025/26 financial year for all nine provinces.
Last month, during his Budget speech, Godongwana also allocated R340 million for the early retirement and voluntary exit programmes.
The Eastern Cape and Gauteng are set to receive the largest amounts with just over R367m and R359.5m, respectively, while the Western Cape's share is R251m and the Free State gets R217.4m.
