BETLEY beat Hanford in NSSCL Division Three by virtue of losing fewer wickets.

Hanford had been bowled out for 181 in the first half of the afternoon on the back of half-centuries of Muhammad Afzaal and Dan Hall.

Afzaal hit 13 fours and two sixes in his 82, with Hall’s 56 containing six boundaries and one six.

Jimmy Jinks fronted the Betley bowling attack with 3-19, backed up two wickets apiece for Adam Williams, Willoughby Happe and Ben Mogg.

In reply, Tom Happe top-scored with an unbeaten 71, which included five fours.

Bailey Sant (37), Willoughby Happe (26) and Lewis Clarke (21) also made decisive contributions, but Betley finished on 181-9 - to win by losing fewer wickets.

Bagnall Norton seconds edged out Porthill Park thirds by just one run.

Hosts Bagnall Norton took first use and managed to stick 123 all out on the board.

Neil Gilbert top-scored with 37, with support forthcoming from Spencer Ashby (26), Ben Richardson (23) and Cian Gibson (13).
