Bunting, Tommies and outdoor feast
COMMUNITY-SPIRITED neighbours have joined forces to decorate their street in more than a mile of bunting and Union flags galore to celebrate the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
The patriotic display at West View in Rough Close, also includes 32 silhouettes of British 'Tommies.
They have been poignantly positioned towards the heart of the street to reflect the real-life troops who returned home to Staffordshire following the end of the Second World War in 1945.
Around 60 people marked the milestone with a massive street party on Saturday, from the oldest resident who remembers the events of 1945 and her father returning from war, to children who enjoyed games on the green and handled wartime items such as a stretcher, tin hat and telephone.
