As a proud Stokie, it's been a joy to witness our city come together to celebrate its centenary year. It is a reminder of all the reasons that make Stoke-on-Trent such a special place to live the people, sense of community, beautiful places and our proud heritage.

- Martin Tideswell — Director of Commerical Strategy at University of Staffordshire

This month, a new ceremonial mace designed by our BA (Hons) Product Furniture and Ceramics students was presented to the town of Fenton.

This beautifully crafted emblem reflects Fenton's historic ties with the early development of the ceramic industry and will stand as a proud representation of the town for the next 100 years and beyond.

I was excited to see the recent launch of the 'Love Stoke 100' project, which is celebrating Stoke-on-Trent's 100th birthday by creating 100 short films about why you love the city.

It is led by Framescape, a non-profit digital community project founded by University of Staffordshire alumnus Daniel Waterman of Carse & Waterman Productions Ltd, and Eric Gresswell of Popcorn Video & Content Creation Ltd. What makes it even better is that graduate company Inspired Film and Video is also a partner in this project.

The films can be about anything you love about Stoke-on-Trent. What and who inspires you? Where do you love going? What do you love doing? Anyone can submit a short film - you don't need to be an expert and you don't need expensive gear. Just grab your phone and get out there filming!
