Retired nurse demands compensation as bill ramps up due to 'incompetence'
ANGRY OAP Margaret Clarke is demanding compensation from Royal Mail - after her parking fine took so long to arrive that her final bill almost trebled.
She has had to shell out £170 after three letters detailing the penalty took so long to arrive that she was timed out of any appeal and missed the initial deadline to pay up.
The cancer patient also says a letter from the Royal Stoke University Hospital took two months to arrive at her Newcastle home. Now the 72-year-old has branded the postal service 'majorly incompetent.
She said: "I received a parking fine and wanted to appeal it but I couldn't because apparently I'd already missed the opportunity to do so.
