Pledge as police probe spiking incidents

- Sentinel Reporter

PARTNERS in the nighttime economy in Newcastle say safety in the town 'remains our top priority' as police probe a spate of spiking incidents.

Members of the community safety partnership are working together to ensure visitors can continue to enjoy a night out in Newcastle.

It comes after The Sentinel reported how police are investigating three spiking incidents linked to Yates in the Ironmarket last Friday and Saturday.

Karena Shenton was with a friend in the bar on Friday October 17 when she noticed spots in her vision at around midnight before struggling to walk, talk and stay awake.
