NSSCL Division Four

Moore reward surely deserved as Audlem fight back for victory

SILVERDALE seconds' Glynn Moore would have been forgiven for wondering how he ended up on the losing side despite an heroic performance in their NSSCL Division Four clash against Audlem.

Audlem were chasing 172 for victory, but were reduced to 87-8 on their trip to Underwood Road as Moore (8-20) single-handedly ran through their line up during his allocated eight-over spell.

But Audlem rode the storm and after Moore had bowled his number of allowed overs, they rebuilt as Ben Salisbury (45no) and Jake Topping (25) masterminded an unlikely one-wicket win for the visitors.

Earlier in the day, Silverdale had managed to reach 171-7 from their 40 overs.

Chris Brookes top-scored with 37, with Max Turner (36) and Luke Trafford (22) also impressing.

Vijayan Rahul claimed two wickets.

Burslem seconds are top of the standings after winning a thriller at home against Hem Heath thirds.

The outcome was on a knife edge as the home side chased their 221-run target.

Darren Hof handed them a good start with 69, which included 11 fours, with Luca Abbotts (31) and Ash Porter (20) also starring.

They needed 11 off the final over, bowled by Stephen Pugh, which then became four to win off the final delivery to ensure they won by virtue of losing fewer wickets.

However, the experienced Chris Lowndes thumped the last ball for six to secure an outright three-wicket triumph for the table-toppers.

Adam Ainsworth (18no) kept him company, while Jack Sanders captured 3-29 for Hem Heath.
