Man spent £17.4k on company cards to fund drug habit

The 31-year-old had fraudently used two cards 551 times
EMPLOYEE Jake Simpson used his company fuel and bank cards to fund a 'raging cocaine addiction.
The 31-year-old was spending up to £400 a day on the class A drug when he worked for Timpson.
In six months in 2022 he fraudulently used the credit card 392 times spending £4,534.96. He fraudulently used the fuel card 159 times racking up a bill of £12,956.57.
The dad-of-two used the credit card to buy food and takeaways and used the fuel card to buy unleaded petrol despite his company vehicle being diesel. Now Simpson has been sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.
Prosecutor Emily Woodhead said Simpson was employed by Timpson from November 2021 and covered the Midlands repairing photocopiers and printers.
