Thug also threatened to kill victim's mum

THUG Joseph O'Reilly rammed a stolen car into his ex's family home - after making terrifying threats to shoot her mum.

The 27-year-old severely damaged the Trentham property then sped away. Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard he had also controlled his and abused his victim before their relationship broke down.

When he was arrested, six days after the car ramming, police had to 'tactically stop' a stolen vehicle he was driving in Barlaston.

Now O'Reilly, of Thornhill Road, Bentilee, has been sentenced to seven years and 10 months. He was also banned from driving for eight years and 11 months.

Prosecutor Alura Bather said O'Reilly's eight-month relationship with his victim soon deteriorated and at the end of October 2023 he was violent towards her. At one point he took her property off her and her phone was damaged. Miss Bather said: "He tried to control her movements. On November 20, 2023 she was at his house. He became angry and tried to get her phone. He fell into the television during the struggle."
