|The Sentinel
LEEK Hockey Club are celebrating a triple championship winning season with promotion for the men's and women's first teams and the men's 4th X1.
Leek Ladies 1st XI were the first to secure promotion with a week of the season remaining when they dispatched Tamworth in a 12-0 rout.
Leek Ladies captain, Nicola Weallans said: "This was an outstanding effort by the team and it was all the more satisfying to see so many of our talented juniors develop and improve as the season progressed.
"Following the Christmas break, the team really came into form and went on an unstoppable run that secured the title and with it promotion back to Midlands Division One."
Leek Ladies Coach Matt Boardman said the improvement of the young players had been 'particularly notable'.
He added: The addition of some experienced players gave the team a solid structure that allowed them to express themselves to great effect. We look forward to seeing their continued progress with the club."
Coach Boardman secured a second promotion with the men's 4th XI on the same weekend after a dominant performance in the league.
