Johnson shows quality to provide rare Vale highlight

PORT Vale were beaten 1-0 by 10-manm Wigan Athletic on Saturday. MIKE BAGGALEY looks at the talking points from the League One clash...
The galvanising effect this result had on Wigan was obvious as their manager Ryan Lowe came on to the pitch at full time punching the air.
Victory against the odds was just what they needed after only winning one of their last ten and losing their last four at home.
Vale came into the game in much better form and now have to make sure the afternoon doesn’t have the opposite effect on them, particularly as they have nine days to brood on it before they return to action at home to Stockport.
Maybe this is unfair but I'd back Vale to frustrate the opposition if down to ten men themselves more than I would fancy them to find a way past a ten-man opponent.
