Flying visitor to help city pay tribute to its military heroes

Memorial Flight Dakota part of commemoration
CROWDS will honour Stoke-on-Trent military personnel past and present in a city park tomorrow.
The free Armed Forces Celebration Day in Longton’s Queen’s Park will feature a full military parade and a traditional drumhead service, paying tribute to serving and former members of the Armed Forces.
Cadet forces and veteran associations will join the parade. A major highlight will be a Dakota flypast from the RAF. The Douglas C47 Dakota is one of the most iconic military transport aircraft in history, known for its role in Burma, the D-Day landings and the airborne assault on Arnhem in 1944, where city war hero Jack Baskeyfield earned the Victoria Cross.
