PORT Vale legend Martin Foyle, below, was in attendance as Port Vale drew 0-0 at Newcastle Town in the traditional opener on Friday night.

Vale were involved in a double-header over the weekend - with a visit to Kidsgrove Athletic on Saturday.
Against Town, in a dull 0-0 draw, Rico Richards hit an effort wide and Lorent Tolaj was thwarted, but apart from that not a lot happened in the first half.
In the second half Jordan Stockley couldn't direct his header goalwards after he met a Mitch Clak cross as the game ended all square.
