PORT Vale writer CLIVE YOULTON has his say on the latest Valiants news...

Clarity was needed, but it’s time for Valiants to deliver

Moore has been backed as Port Vale manager despite a poor run of form below: Valiants chief executive Matt Hancock.

PORT Vale chief executive Matt Hancock should be applauded for telling the fans exactly what's what when it comes to Darren Moore's position as manager.

Whether people agree or disagree with the stance, we now know Moore will remain in charge for the game against Lincoln City and, we assume, beyond.

It was a happy coincidence that Hancock was due to sit down with Vale's media team for his monthly chat just when clarification was demanded by supporters.

Fans had dubbed Vale against Plymouth Argyle last weekend as 'El-Sackico' because of the positions of both clubs at the foot of the League One table.

Tom Cleverley’s Plymouth had lost their previous six matches in all competitions. Vale hadn't won a league game in six and had plummeted.

As it was, the outcome saw both men keep their jobs.

Vale face a trip to third-placed Lincoln in League One, then have less high-profile games to follow against Barnsley (EFL Trophy) and Bristol Rovers (FA Cup).
