Fans show frustration with Valiants propping up League One

- Michael Baggaley

SUPPORTERS called for Darren Moore to be sacked after Vale dropped to the bottom of the table with a 1-0 defeat at home to Plymouth.

This was Vale's fifth league game on the spin without a goal and led to chants against the manager and boos at full time.

Lorent Tolaj scored within a minute of the second half, marking his return to Vale Park after Plymouth triggered his £1.2m release clause in August.

Vale created more chances than the visitors but Devante Cole, Ruari Paton and Jayden Stockley all missed opportunities as Plymouth held on to move off bottom spot.

The Vale want to stand by their manager after he delivered automatic promotion at the first attempt last season.

Darren Moore said: "It was two teams scrapping at the bottom but we definitely had the upper hand. We're looking at the game now and really their only clear-cut chance, early in the second half, ends up in the back of the net.
