Pub reborn with fresh publicans

Award is within Arms' reach!

A VILLAGE pub has been shortlisted for an award after bouncing back under the stewardship of first-time publicans.

Nicola Gresty and Mark Ball took over the Boughey Arms in Audley in November last year and haven't looked back.

They asked people in the village what they wanted to see at the pub and have now been nominated for the Staffordshire Community Pub Awards.

Nicola said: "This is the first pub we've run ourselves, Mark does the cooking and I do the paperwork. I was a bookkeeper for a pub and three butchers previously, and Mark was a butcher. That's how I got the background of how to run a pub.

"We've kicked the old reputation and we're attracting older people and families which is good. We've had to rebuild from scratch, and lots of customers said it's getting back to how it was pre-covid, so that's lovely to hear.
