Scholarships delight for talented trio following success in exams

- Sentinel Reporter

COOP Academy Stoke-on-Trent students Kevin Chi, Anita Joko and Faisal Ehsan, are off to boarding school to do their A-levels after being awarded full scholarships for their KS5 studies.

Kevin achieved seven grade 9s and one grade 8 in his GCSE subjects, alongside a starred distinction and is heading to Eton College on a full scholarship, having received a prestigious Orwell Award. He intends to study maths, further maths, physics and computer science.

He said: "Thank you so much to all the teaching staff for their help. It was a big jump going from KS3 to GCSE and I didn't know what to expect, but their support put me at ease and it gave me the confidence to achieve. I couldn't be more thankful for the support and opportunities I've had."

Headteacher Shane Richardson said: "Kevin is an exceptional young man who personifies the very best of us: he's got a ferocious work ethic, a relentless determination to be successful and also incredible humility."
