BEN Garrity admitted Port Vale were simply not good enough in their damaging defeat to Plymouth Argyle.

Actions must speak louder than words, insists Valiants midfielder

TIME TO ACT: Ben Garrity says Vale must up their performance levels to get out of trouble.

The 1-0 loss meant Vale sank to the bottom of the table after a fifth League One match in succession where they didn’t score.

“It’s poor really,” said Garrity on Port Vale TV. “We can’t really say we do well in periods because we lose a game.

“Last week we can take a positive with a clean sheet and a draw [against Wycombe] but you can’t follow it up with that.

“It was nowhere near good enough and we are where we are because of what we are doing on the pitch.”

He added players are hurting and he said: “We can’t keep saying the same things, about losses, of course it affects people. We are in a game where we want to win but I can’t keep saying the same thing. We've got to start proving it on the pitch.”

These type of points could mean big prizes for Potters

THE Championship is famously competitive but it is genuinely even more tight than usual after a third of this season. If you take out the leaders and the bottom six, teams’ points hauls so far are significantly closer than is normally expected at this stage.
