I’M sure you've probably either read A Christmas Carol or seen one of the many film and TV versions of the classic novel.

Remember that bit where the Ghost of Christmas Present launches into a song-and-dance routine dressed like a Christmas tree? No, me neither.

What about when grumpy mean-spirited Ebenezer Scrooge gets a lecture about the sacrifices made by potbank workers, miners and steel workers?

No, I'm convinced that wasn’t in the much-loved original book by Charles Dickens.

I’m equally sure an army of workers didn’t parade through a scene in the classic Alastair Sim film version carrying a bunch of pottery moulds.

Of course, all that and more happens in this colourful version at the Dipping House at Spode Works, the historic former potbank.

And it’s all the better for it.
