A batting display to forget is ruthlessly punished by Bignall
August 11, 2025
|The Sentinel
BIGNALL End turned on the style to thump Leycett in NSSCL Premier B.
It was a fine day for the home side as they reached 233-9 declared at Boon Hill.
Ben Dixon led the way with 53 not out, which included five fours and three sixes, while Niall Hassett (45) and Ahsam Zaroof (39) lent valuable support.
Isaac McDonald and Matt Johnson picked up 4-46 and 4-58 respectively.
Leycett had a batting performance to forget as they were bundled out for just 54.
None of their batsmen managed to reach double figures as new-ball pair Hamid Ali (6-34) and Aunn Shah (4-11) did the damage.
Leaders Eccleshall continued their promotion push with a routine home win against Elworth.
Connor Beasley's 47 was the principal contribution to Eccleshall's 225-8 from their 55 overs.
Myles Coughlan added 40, Dan Byatt weighed in with 30, Chris Plant and Andrew Calvert chipped in with 28 apiece and Zak Mosam made 24.
Harry Newton (4-35) was the pick of the Elworth bowlers, backed up by a double strike from Ed Parrish.
Alex Banks was in fine form for Elworth after tea, hitting 10 fours in his 67.
But although Joe Stephenson made 26 and Chris Regan added 17, Elworth were dismissed for 139.
