'Welfare check' on Rody concerning - Sara

Vice President Sara Duterte yesterday said she received “disturbing” information from Malacañang that a report about her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, was submitted to President Marcos by the Philippine embassy in The Hague, Netherlands.

- By BELLA CARIASO

“The officials entered the detention unit under the false pretense of conducting a welfare check and interviewed FPRRD. The said officials clearly abused the rule of the detention unit concerning consular visits,” Duterte said in a statement released by the Office of the Vice President.

The OVP has yet to confirm whether the Vice President is still in Japan after she visited Tokyo and Nagoya on Sept. 20 and 21, where she led the gathering calling for the release of the former president.

The elder Duterte was arrested on March 11 and turned over to the International Criminal Court (ICC) to face charges of crimes against humanity over his war on drugs.

“The permission given by the ICC in allowing the agents of the very government that abducted FPRRD to intrude upon him, without seeking permission from family members who are in The Hague, places his life and safety in imminent danger,” the Vice President claimed.
