Torre: No basis for China's travel warning to students

Philippine National Police chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III yesterday dismissed China's warning to its citizens against studying in the Philippines, saying there is no basis for the claim of an "unstable" security situation in the country.

"We always value and respect the opinions of other people, whether they are in our country or outside," Torre told Camp Crame reporters.

But he pointed out that while the PNP respects the position of Beijing officials, recent incidents indicate that Chinese nationals in the Philippines are often both the victims and perpetrators of crimes.
