PNP to deploy 15,000 cops for INC rally

The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday vowed to uphold vigilance as it prepares for simultaneous prayer rallies organized by the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) and another group from Nov. 16 to 18 in Manila and Quezon City.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said they recognize the right of Filipinos to freely practice their religion.
“Our task is to ensure that these rallies, like any peaceful gathering, remain safe for both the participants and the community,” Nartatez said.
More than 15,000 police personnel will be deployed to Rizal Park in Manila for the INC rally as well as other key sites, including the EDSA people power monument, House of Representatives, Senate, Quirino Grandstand and Liwasang Bonifacio.
