NBA players underpaid?

In a week wherein WNBA players very publicly complained of inadequate pay, Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry dropped a bug bombshell.

The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player said in an interview that players in the league are underpaid. This seems ironic, considering that the average salary in the NBA is $12 million. Curry himself stands to earn $60 million this season. So fans are wondering, where does he get off saying that the players are underpaid when they are among the highest paid athletes on the planet?

Actually, what he means — and mentioned — is equity. This is the difference between being rich and being wealthy. And Robert Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" books talks about being a business owner versus being an investor. What NBA players have is income. They still have to work for the money. What Curry is talking about is owning a portion of the company behind the team. These are two totally different things. The latter can continually produce revenue without any actual work.
