Meralco rates up by 0.26 per kWh

Meralco customers can expect higher charges on their power bills this month, with the overall rate going up by P0.2639 per kilowatt-hour.
The adjustment brings the overall rate to P12.2901 per kWh in March—from last month's P12.0262 per kWh—equivalent to an increase of around P53 for typical households consuming 200 kWh.
At a press conference yesterday, Meralco spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga attributed the rate hike to the absence of a one-time refund on the reset fee, along with higher transmission charges and feed-in tariff allowance (FIT-All).
This month's transmission costs went up by about P0.13 per kWh, mainly due to higher ancillary service charges—fees that support services essential for stabilizing the power grid.
