LPA not expected to develop into typhoon

A trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) will bring rains in Mindanao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Weather specialist Daniel James Villamil yesterday said that cooler temperatures are expected to prevail in many areas of the country brought by the northeast monsoon or amihan.

“For the next 24 hours, the southern portion of Mindanao could experience rains brought by a trough of LPA outside PAR. There is a small chance the LPA will develop into a typhoon in the next few days and we also do not expect it to enter PAR,” Villamil said.
