The PBA Philippine Cup Finals will be the seventh championship clash between San Miguel Beer and TNT in league history.
San Miguel has won five of the past six duels, the last three with coach Leo Austria. The only stain in San Miguel's record was TNT's victory in the 2010-11 Philippine Cup with Chot Reyes at the helm and Ato Agustin coaching the Beermen.
Kris Rosales and Mo Tautuaa were with TNT when San Miguel won the 2016-17 Commissioner's Cup title with Brian Heruela. Don Trollano was with TNT coach Bong Ravena when San Miguel won the 2019 Commissioner's Cup crown. Simon Enciso was with San Miguel when the Beermen beat TNT in the 2022-23 Philippine Cup Finals. Now, Rosales, Tautuaa and Trollano are with San Miguel while Heruela and Enciso are with TNT. The switching of players has altered the dynamics of competition with an intriguing twist.
