Factory gate prices increase faster in Sept

Factory gate prices rose at a faster rate in September from the previous month due mainly to the movement in transport equipment prices, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Data released by the PSA yesterday showed that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for manufacturing posted a one-percent uptick in September, faster than the 0.6 percent increase in August.

In September last year, the PPI declined by 1.4 percent.

From January to September, average PPI growth stood at 0.5 percent.

The PPI tracks the average change in the cost of manufactured goods when they leave a factory relative to a base period.
