Enrique Gil immerses in 'Manila's Finest' era

Enrique Gil plays the young officer character Billy Ojeda, in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, 'Manila's Finest.' This one allows him to learn about the lifeworld of an officer back in the day. The actor gets to collaborate with directors Raymond Red and Piolo Pascual.

The period action drama film is a stark contrast to the meta found footage horror, "Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital," an MMFF entry from the filmfest's 2024 edition.

From taking on the amateur ghosthunter role in the latter, Enrique plays a young officer in "Manila's Finest," which is the name of a police force.

The film also stars Piolo Pascual and is directed by Cannes Palme d'Or for Best Short Film winner, Raymond Red.

"My character is Billy Ojeda," the actor introduced his character in a recent brief group chat. "He is the newest officer in the force. Medyo rookie pa siya (he's a bit of a rookie). Basically, ang turing niya sa character ni Piolo, si Magtibay, is older brother niya (he considers Piolo's character an older brother). He looks up to him and idolizes him."

"My character wants to be like him, pero may mga pangyayari, actions siyang ginawa and circumstances na medyo ma-di-disappoint ko si (Lt. Homer) Magtibay (but there are actions he has made and events, circumstances he has gotten into that will disappoint Magtibay)," added he.
