Cone focused on who's available
February 19, 2026
|The Philippine Star
Gilas head coach Tim Cone said yesterday he’s avoiding distractions and his only focus is to get the available players ready for the second FIBA World Cup Asia qualifying window against New Zealand on Feb. 26 and Australia on March 1, both at the MOA Arena.
“I want to keep our focus on what we're doing at practice every day,” said Cone. “Everything else is just a distraction. The games are too important.” The Philippines is out to qualify for the FIBA World Cup in Doha, Qatar, on Aug. 27-Sept. 12, 2027 with the ultimate goal of emerging the top Asian finisher to represent the continent at the 2028 LA Olympics.
