Thaw in offing? India, China not competitors but cooperators: Envoy

IN line with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's recent statements in Geneva that nearly 75% issues between India and China have been resolved barring the border dispute, China's envoy to India said the two Asian giants are not competitors but coordinators.
"President Xi Jinping and PM Modi have reached consensus on many important points, which means that the two countries are not competitors but cooperators and are development partners, not threats," said Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong on Thursday.
He recounted that China and India had close cooperation during the 1950s and China had put forth the five principles of peaceful coexistence.
"China and India are the two biggest and developing countries in the world. Both are responsible for developing the economy and improving people's livelihoods. China is determined to build itself into a great modern socialist country by the middle of this century and India has a vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047," he said.
