THE monthly gross GST collection crossed the ₹2 lakh crore milestone for the first time in April, giving the government bragging rights over the health of the economy.
The record jump came from a 12.4% rise as compared to April last year's figures of ₹1.87 lakh crore.
The surge was mainly driven by a strong 13.4% growth in domestic transactions and an 8.3% increase in imports, the finance ministry said.
