Notify SOP for regulating political parties’ rallies by Jan 5, HC tells TN

If any party feels aggrieved by SOP conditions, it can move the court, says division bench
THE Madras High Court on Friday ordered the Tamil Nadu government to notify the standard operating procedure (SOP) for regulating roadshows and rallies of political parties by January 5.
Following the September 27 Karur stampede that killed 41 people during the roadshow of actor-politician Vijay (TVK), the draft SOP was framed by the state government by consulting recognised political parties, including principal opposition party AIADMK, and Vijay’s TVK, a registered party, which submitted their suggestions and objections to the government.
