Came to fill SIR form in Indore, but wanted criminal landed in police net

A criminal named in more than 100 offences—including robbery, theft & murder—in Madhya Pradesh & Maharashtra, was held in his native place Indore where he arrived days ago to fill a form for the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, police said on Friday.

Abdul Rashid alias Talwar Singh (54) was arrested in connection with a daylight burglary that he committed on December 3 at a residential apartment in the city’s Geeta Nagar locality, from where he decamped with jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. Multiple teams were formed to crack the case by Indore’s Palasia police, which arrested him a few days later from Indore only following a tip-off.
