5 Maoists, including 2 women, gunned down in J'khand encounter; 2 arrested

FIVE Maoists, including two women, were gunned down, while two others were arrested in an encounter with security forces in Jharkhand's Chaibasa, police said, adding the rebels included a zonal and a sub-zonal commander.

The Maoists have suffered heavy losses, police said, adding the encounter started early morning on Monday in the Kolhan jungles of Chaibasa (West Singhbhum).

Chaibasa SP Ashutosh Shekhar confirmed the Maoist casualties. "Out of the five Maoists killed in the encounter, one was a zonal commander while another one is a sub-zonal commander, one was area commander while the remaining two were the woman cadre of the Maoists," said the SP.

The security forces also nabbed two Maoists, one is an area commander and another a hardcore female Maoist, he added.
