August 04, 2025
|The New Indian Express Vijayawada
At least 252 lives have been lost due to rain-related incidents during the ongoing monsoon in Madhya Pradesh.
While 47 people have died owing to heavy rains, 132 were swept away in swollen rivers and streams. More than 60 others died after being struck by lightning; 13 others lost their lives in tree and house collapse incidents. Not just humans, but animals too have lost their lives due to the monsoon fury and associated mishaps. As many as 432 animals (mostly milch animals) and 1,200 poultry perished during the rain fury, which also triggered the collapse of 128 houses, while partially damaging 2,333 houses.
