Residents want encroachers evicted from Vellore canal

RESIDENTS of two streets in Gudiyatham municipality urgently petitioned Collector VR Subbulaxmi, alleging that recent encroachments have blocked their only access road and led to houses being built over the drainage canal, threatening both sanitation and emergency access.
According to the petitioners, there are around 70 houses and 100 families in the two streets, namely Tharanam Pattai Thiru Gnanasambandar Street and Bakkiri Mohammad Street.
Located in Ward 9 of the said municipality, the streets have only a narrow path, which the residents use for going in and out of the area.
