HC Stays Tata's Wind Power Project for Procedural Lapse

TPREL told to publish notice on public hearing in leading dailies in 2 weeks

THE Madras HC has stalled the works for installation of a power transmission line project of the Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) for failing to adhere to the procedures, particularly the mandatory conduct of public hearing to elicit views and objections of the general public before applying for the necessary licence.

Justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy passed the orders recently while disposing of a batch of petitions filed by certain landowners, who had objected to the TPREL entering their agricultural land for carrying out the project works.
