Clash occurred when EO tried to stop house works on temple land
Tension prevailed in Purushothapatnam village of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday after Bhadrachalam Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple Executive Officer (EO) L Ramadevi and a local woman, R Punnamma, fell unconscious during a confrontation over temple land.
According to Yetapaka Circle Inspector Kannaparaju, the incident occurred when EO Ramadevi, accompanied by temple staff, visited the village to stop the construction of a house on land reportedly belonging to the temple. Upon arrival, an altercation broke out between the officials and villagers, with verbal exchanges escalating. In the melee, both Ramadevi and Punnamma lost consciousness.
