THE Uzhavar Sandhai, located in Anna Nagar, Thennur, has been receiving an overwhelming response from both the general public and farmers. However, upkeep of the sandhai has come in for sharp criticism after the market was filled with slush caused by water stagnation.
"Whenever it rains, water tends to stagnate in the central area of the market. We are forced to walk in the area very cautiously to avoid slipping. As a temporary measure the authorities have spread M-sand to cover the slushy area. But it is not sufficient," said P Sundaram, a customer.
