Ghora mandi: David on sale, asking price ₹21 cr

|The New Indian Express Thrissur
IT was a jaw-dropping moment for equestrian enthusiasts and breeders when they witnessed 42-month-old David, one of the tallest horses and a direct descendant of Raj Hans stallion, at the recently concluded "Ghora-Mandi," part of the Maghi Mela in Muktsar.
What was even more surprising was its asking price: yes, you heard it right—a staggering ₹21 crore. Approximately 3,000 horses and mares participated in the mela, of which about 600 were sold.
Another attraction for the buyers was a 69-inch-tall white equine, Bilawal, a stallion of the Nukra breed. Owner Jaspal Singh from Tarkhanwala village in Muktsar was seen asking a price in crores.
Then there was a mare—66-inch tall Noori—and its owner, Gurmel Singh Patwar, who sought its price in lakhs. Vikramjit Singh Brar, manager of Sanjam Stud Farm at Badal village, said that 20 horses are only in their breeding.
