Leopard rescued in Amboori dies a day later, investigation ordered

A probe has been ordered into the death of a leopard that was trapped in a snare and later rescued in Amboori on Saturday.

The three-and-a-half-year-old female leopard had been tranquilised and moved to Neyyar Lion Safari Park for observation after being captured.

The forest department has registered a case of unnatural death and will submit its findings to the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA). Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary range officer is leading the investigation. Forest Minister A K Saseendran has sought a detailed report.
