LEADER of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has alleged that the Election Commission is "compromised" and claimed that there is something very wrong with the electoral system, citing the surge in the number of voters in the Maharashtra election.

His comments, made at an event in the US, drew a strong reaction from the BJP which called him a "traitor". During his speech, Gandhi said that he had been raising the issue and asserted that "there is something wrong with the system". The Congress MP, who arrived in the US on Saturday, made the remarks at an event in Boston on Sunday.
