VATSALA, perhaps the oldest elephant on Earth, breathed her last on Tuesday afternoon, following age-related health issues at Madhya Pradesh's Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR), her home for the past 32 years.

Having survived two near-fatal attacks by a male tusker in six years, the female elephant estimated to be aged between 100 and 110 years, also suffered severe cataract (irreversibly damaging her vision), besides digestive issues and movement-related problems at the Hinauta Elephant Camp at PTR.
